Senator representing the Delta North Senatorial district at the National Assembly, Ned Nwoko, has cautioned those already celebrating the victory of their candidates at the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary to pull back, saying it smacked of hyperactive imagination.

PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that this comes following media reports that Nwoko lost to former Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, in the Delta North Primary election held on Monday.

However, in a statement through the Media Director of Anioma State creation championed by Nwoko, Tonnie Oganah, the Senator cautioned those celebrating the so-called victory of their candidate to exercise restraint and avoid running afoul of the law.

Nwoko has clarified that the result of the senatorial primary has not been officially announced, stressing that the authentic result of the exercise can only be announced from the national headquarters of the APC in Abuja.

He added that all the candidates have their strongholds, and announcing partial results would amount to half-truths, which are embellished lies that could mislead the public.

The statement reads, “Ned Nwoko symbolises the Anioma dream of identity and economic liberation as he wants Anioma to have 3 Senators and nine House of Representatives members as opposed to only one Senator and three house of representatives members that it currently has.

“He also desires that the list of state assembly members and councillors will triple whilst new local government areas will be created with Asaba remaining as capital.

“Anioma people are not stupid and short sighted as to abandon their bright future because of mere crumbs and inducement offered by other candidates.

“Ned Nwoko has been known to be the first top politician in Delta state to openly declare support for President Tinubu and APC long before others joined and at the appropriate time during elections in January 2027 the entire Anioma nation will say thank you by voting APC all the way.

“Anioma people don’t want to enter the Guinness book of records for negativity by not supporting Ned Nwoko and President Tinubu both of whom are working to actualise the dream of empowerment for nigerians generally and the Anioma nation in particular, especially as the party is supreme and will consider several factors before officially naming their flag bearer in any elections which has to be someone without any EFCC baggage or criminal matter pending.

“What is more, there has to be clear evidence in the public domain of resignation from a former political party before membership of a new party can be valid under both the electoral law and the APC constitution. Membership of two or more political parties is an offence and no one is above the law.”
