THE Board Secretary, Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mr AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, has said that all 1,600 pilgrims from the state have been successfully transported to Makkah for the 2026 Hajj exercise.

Ajomagberin said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Makkah.

He said that the board was meticulous in ensuring that all the necessary processes were followed for a seamless airlift of the pilgrims.

“It has been a tremendous task moving this number of people from Lagos Saudi Arabia, but we did a great job.

“We were able to do all the necessary processes, from obtaining visa, medical screening, making sure that all the travel documents are well processed.

“We were able to do that with the help of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) . We are working closely with them

“We give glory to Allah that we were able to mobilise five flights from Nigeria down to Saudi Arabia successfully, ” he said.

He commended NAHCON for providing decent accommodation and feeding for the Lagos pilgrims in Madinah.

“NAHCON is always there to assist. They are in charge of the pilgrims in Madinah and they did their best to make us comfortable,” he said.

He advised the pilgrims to be of good character and see themselves as ambassadors of Lagos and Nigeria.

He urged them to pray for the state and for peace in Nigeria(NAN)
