At least 10 vigilantes have lost their lives after armed men launched an attack on Damri town in Bakura Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The incident was reported on Wednesday through a post shared online by security analyst Bakatsine, who stated that the armed men stormed the community and engaged members of the local vigilante group who were attempting to protect residents.
The confrontation resulted in a deadly exchange that left 10 vigilantes dead.
The analyst described the incident as part of a worsening pattern of violence between armed groups and local community defence forces that continues to devastate rural areas across the region.
He also raised concerns about how much longer civilians could survive without effective protection from the authorities, as killings and insecurity in the area show no signs of abating.
