2027: PDP BoT, NWC Leaders hold closed-door meeting with Makinde

Governor Seyi Makinde

Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) board of trustees and National Working Committee (NWC) on Monday held a closed-door meeting with Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo state.

The meeting, which took place at the governor’s office, was attended by members of the BoT faction led by Adolphus Wabara as well as officials of the interim NWC headed by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki.

Although details of the discussions were not made public, party insiders said the talks focused on recent political developments within the PDP and strategic positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Sources within the party said the meeting was also linked to growing speculation over Makinde’s political future and alleged interest in exploring alternative political platforms amid ongoing internal crises in the PDP.

There were also indications that party leaders used the meeting to assess Makinde’s stance on emerging realignments within the opposition and his role in ongoing consultations across the South-West.

Another source said concerns were raised about his possible political direction as the PDP continues to grapple with internal divisions at the national level.

The meeting, which lasted several hours, ended without an official briefing, further fuelling speculation among party members and political observers.

Makinde, a key figure in the PDP, has continued to advocate for internal reforms within the party while maintaining his influence in opposition politics ahead of 2027.
