Influencer Ashmusy has broken silence on the alleged fallout in her friendship with fellow influencer Nons Miraj, saying that friendship breakups are often overlooked and should be talked about more openly.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that in an interview on the Echo Room podcast, she compared friendship breakups to the end of long marriages, noting that if a marriage that lasted many years can end, then it is also normal for friendships to come to a close.
The content creator said people usually feel deep emotional pain when close friends part ways, especially when those friends were present through many personal moments and challenges.
Ashmusy added that memories can make the experience harder, as old photos and reminders sometimes resurface on phones.
She described herself as someone who is very emotional and admitted that such situations can leave a feeling of emptiness. However, she said she also reminds herself of the reasons behind the separation, which helps her accept it.
She said: “If it is possible for a marriage that lasted for 20 years to break up. Why isn’t it okay for a friendship to split? To be honest, I feel friendship breakups should be spoken about more. Friendship breaks hurt a lot, with no reference to my previous friendships. Those friends were there through all the ups and downs. Sometimes, my phone still brings up pictures.
“I am an emotional person. Sometimes I feel like something is missing when these friendship breakups happen, but it’s just my heart, but my brain comes back to the reason the breakup happened.”
