KENYA Commercial Bank, KCB defeated Vipers and Partners Volleyball Club of Nigeria 3-0 on Wednesday at the 2026 Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship in Cairo.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports KCB’s women’s team secured a dominant victory, brushing aside Nigeria’s VIP Spikers in straight sets.
In a clinical Pool D display, the Bankers won 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-19), underlining their tactical discipline and attacking strength.
“We executed our game plan well and stayed focused throughout, The players showed great discipline in every set,” a KCB official said.
KCB seized early control in each set, combining disciplined blocking with aggressive floor defence to stifle the Nigerian attack.
Vipers and Partners showed flashes of brilliance with spirited rallies, but struggled against KCB’s experienced attackers who repeatedly exploited defensive gaps.
“Their experience made the difference. We fought hard but could not sustain pressure,” a Nigerian team representative said.
The identical set scores reflected KCB’s consistency, as the Kenyans maintained control and never allowed their intensity to drop.
NAN reports that 18 clubs are competing in the championship, divided into four groups across the tournament.
Group A includes Al Ahly of Egypt, Mayo Kani of Cameroon, C.O. Descartes of Cote d’Ivoire and National Alcohol Factory of Ethiopia.
Group B features Kenya Pipeline, La Loi of DR Congo, Sococim of Senegal, Kalubi Sporting Club of Ghana and Gender Light of Burundi.
Group C comprises C.F. Carthage of Tunisia, Nigeria Customs Service, Kenya’s DCI, Kampala Capital City Authority and Eagles of Congo.
Group D includes KCB, Litto Team of Cameroon, Vipers and Partners of Nigeria, and Arsu of Seychelles.
The championship, which began on April 11, will conclude on April 24 in Cairo. (NAN)
