First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has flagged off the distribution of 100 trucks of rice and N1.2 billion in palliative support to vulnerable Muslim communities across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory, ahead of Eid el-Kabir.
Speaking at the event held at the Abba Kyari Banquet Hall on Thursday, Senator Tinubu described the gesture as a fulfilment of a commitment to treat all religious communities equally, recalling that a similar intervention was made for Christian communities across northern Nigeria on December 23, 2025.
“As we approach Eid el-Kabir, a season of sacrifice, compassion, and gratitude, through this intervention, we are translating the message of the season into palliatives for vulnerable Muslim communities,” she said.
The First Lady used the occasion to counsel Nigerians to emulate Kaduna State’s model of peaceful interfaith and inter-ethnic coexistence, urging religious and community leaders to champion the message of peace.
“A united Nigeria is one that can overcome any challenge,” she said.
She acknowledged the contribution of the Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, for coordinating the programme.
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, who delivered a goodwill message, praised the First Lady’s sustained humanitarian efforts, describing them as inclusive and impactful.
He noted that her interventions consistently reached citizens at the margins of society regardless of faith or ethnicity, and reiterated his administration’s commitment to social intervention, youth empowerment, and security investment in Kaduna State.
