The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has sealed off Paradise Estate located in Life Camp Extension, Abuja, over alleged violations of consumer rights.
The enforcement action followed multiple complaints from subscribers who accused the estate’s management of failing to deliver housing units despite receiving full payment. According to the Commission, the development also ignored several regulatory directives issued to address the grievances.
The FCCPC said the continued non-compliance by the estate’s operators necessitated its intervention, culminating in the sealing of the premises after a compliance visit.
The Commission noted that the decision was based on a pattern of unresolved complaints and breaches of consumer protection standards, particularly in the real estate sector where buyers are often exposed to delayed or abandoned projects.
Reaffirming its mandate, the FCCPC warned that it would not hesitate to take similar action against developers who fail to honour contractual obligations or engage in unfair practices.
It also urged real estate operators across the country to strictly comply with consumer protection laws and regulatory guidelines, stressing that enforcement actions would be intensified to safeguard the interests of buyers.
