Nigerian singer and songwriter Akande Abolore Adegbola, better known as 9ice, has made a bombshell revelation about his religion.
In an interview with Hip TV, he disclosed that he has been a bablawo for more than 18 years, but had kept it hidden.
He noted how people leave Nigeria for Mecca to lick the rock in the name of the Kaaba, yet, despite prayers to Allah and Jesus, the country hasn’t improved. He pointed out that the number of churchgoers is low.
“I have been a bablawo for more than 18 years, but I hid it.
You’ll leave Nigeria and go to Mecca to go and lick rock all in the name of Kabba. Ever since you’ve been calling on Allah and Jesus, this country hasn’t gotten any better. If you go to London, nobody goes to church there.”
Similarly, Fuji Maestro, Saheed Osupa, while performing at a birthday party, disclosed that he practices voodoo to succeed in life. The popular Fuji star defended himself, saying everybody engaged in juju, adding that while some openly embrace it, others do it behind the scenes.
Seun Kuti announced that he no longer goes to church, despite his family being among the pioneers of the Anglican Church in Nigeria. He said that he is actively involved in juju (charms), and expressed hope that Africans would follow suit in his belief. Schooling religious lovers, he noted how Christianity and Islam are religions of the present, where one is forced to accept a religion immediately.
