Nigeria’s ambassador to Mexico, Reno Omokri, on Saturday declared that the 2027 presidential election would be a mere formality for President Bola Tinubu.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Omokri said if God spared Tinubu’s life, the President would record a decisive victory in the next presidential poll.
He stated this in a post on his 𝕏 handle while reacting to the crowd that turned out to welcome Tinubu to Bayelsa State on Friday.
According to him, Bayelsa had rarely witnessed such a massive turnout since its creation on October 1, 1996.
He said, “Bayelsa was created on Tuesday, October 1, 1996, and since that date, Bayelsans have rarely seen the kind of crowd that trooped out yesterday for President Tinubu.
“Maybe this happened under President Jonathan, who is a native of Bayelsa; however, the crowd was massive, active, and supportive. And the people, in their humongous numbers, kept coming.”
Omokri added that his previous impression of Bayelsa as a small state had changed after witnessing the turnout.
He said, “I have been to Bayelsa multiple times.
“I used to think this was a tiny state in terms of landmass and population. Boy, was I wrong! Yesterday proved that convincingly with regard to the population.”
The envoy said the development showed that Bayelsa people understood where their interest lay.
“Definitely, this is a state that knows on what side its bread is buttered. Especially when you consider the following fact,” he added.
He further argued that the support seen in Bayelsa reflected what would happen across the country.
Omokri added, “And as it is in the South-South, so will it be throughout the federation. And that is why 2027 is, for the President, more or less a formality, God sparing his life.”
