The eldest son of the Bauchi State Governor, Shamsudeen Bala Mohammed, has dismissed a report claiming he is mobilising funds to secure victory for the Bauchi South constituency ahead of the 2027 general election.
PrimeTimes Nigeria understands that an online media outlet claimed that Shamsudeen had purportedly declared his intention to contest the seat and had already set aside funds to ensure his success at the polls.
The Hausa-language platform, Jaridar Najeriya, also alleged that he was prepared to pursue his ambition “by all means necessary,” though it did not specify when or where the alleged remarks were made.
However, in a Facebook post, Shamsudeen threatened to take legal action against the media publication.
He asserted that the report was deliberately fabricated to damage his reputation.
“It is with shock and disbelief that I address the defamatory attempts by a reputable media house to tarnish my credibility.
“Their claims suggesting I intend to win the upcoming election through illicit means are disingenuous and designed to incite public unrest,” he said.
He insisted that the allegations were misleading and could create unnecessary tension in the public, while challenging the platform to substantiate its claims.
Shamsudeen added that he would seek redress in court if the publication fails to provide credible evidence.
“I intend to pursue legal action. The publication must now provide concrete evidence to support these baseless claims,” he stated.
