African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Dino Melaye, has challenged President Bola Tinubu to disclose the reason for the removal of the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Tinubu on Tuesday sacked Edun as minister of finance and announced Taiwo Oyedele as his replacement.
The President also relieved Ahmed Musa Dangiwa of his position as the Minister of Housing and Urban Development and named Mr Muttaqha Rabe Darma (PhD) as the ministerial nominee and minister designate for the Housing and Urban Development Ministry.
The development was confirmed in a statement on Tuesday from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, which confirmed that President Tinubu approved a minor cabinet reshuffle.
Reacting to the development, Dino Melaye, in a post on his official Facebook page, questioned whether the sack was due to Edun’s inability to cover up alleged ₦34 trillion stolen from the country’s revenue.
According to the former lawmaker, the World Bank does not tell lies.
He wrote, “Mr President, when Ministers are sacked in civ@ilised climes, the government must explain why they are sacked.
“Was the Minister of Finance removed because he could not cover up the stolen 24 billion dollars (34 trillion naira) diverted from our revenue? World Bank no dey lie. SDM”.
