Nollywood actor Rotimi Salami has cried out for help after poor movie sales at the cinema.
Taking to his Instagram page, he shared a video of himself receiving prayers from a colleague, Yetunde Wunmi, while revealing that the sales for his movie, Kilanko at the Cinema, weren’t good.
He said this is why he was quiet on social media on Monday, revealing that the movie may be removed from the platform if it doesn’t do well this week.
“I am making this post with a heavy heart.
KILANKO SALES AT THE CINEMAS LAST WEEKEND WEREN’T GOOD. That’s why I couldn’t post throughout yesterday.
Still, I say a very big THANK YOU to everyone who came out at different times for the meet-and-greet, and likewise to everyone who came out to watch, but the numbers are pretty small.
If KILANKO doesn’t make the expected figure by this weekend. It might be kicked out of the cinemas even before Ramadan is over. Please, we need all the support we can get to reach a retainable figure.

Actor, IK Ogbonna, had kicked against politics and manipulative tactics in Nigeria’s Cinema. Making a list of the atrocities committed at cinemas, he admonished those involved in such atrocities to stop now, noting that they invest heavily and want a fair chance to share their work and recover their investments.
When CAN threatened Ini Edo over her movie title, IK expressed disappointment in the Association. He noted how they had seen the promotions for months and said nothing, but now had issues with it when it came out. He questioned how Christian it is to stay silent all along, then speak only when progress has been made.
In another post, he noted that artists have creative rights, and those rights should not be dictated by external bodies. He said he believes asking for a title change at this point doesn’t reflect the values of understanding, fairness, and compassion that Christianity teaches.
Kunle Afolayan, during the premiere of his movie, stated that he is not interested in ₦1 billion or ₦2 billion in cinema earnings if he cannot get at least ₦10 million from them. He also took a swipe at his colleagues for constantly dancing to promote their movies.
Hitting back at him, Funke made it known that she isn’t the one hindering his progress, as she admonished him not to let jealousy burn him, noting that the sky is so big for everybody to fly.
Joining Kunle, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde revealed that she wouldn’t be dancing to market or promote her movies, describing such behaviour as unprofessional, noting how she has done a quality movie and needs to promote it.
Weighing in, Iyabo Ojo noted how jealousy is the last class to attend before becoming a witch. She questioned who made the rules and admonished her colleagues to do what works for them and allow others win their way. She added that 2026 ain’t for talkers, but for doers.
Also weighing in, Chinyere Wilfred threw shade, while sharing a video of herself dancing. She admonished others not to dance to promote their movies.
