Lil Durk will remain in custody as his federal case continues to unfold, with his long-awaited trial now pushed to late summer.

The rapper, born Durk Banks, is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles while facing charges tied to an alleged murder for hire conspiracy. He has pleaded not guilty. A judge has now scheduled jury selection for Aug. 25, 2026, marking the second delay after the trial was moved from January to April at the defense’s request.

Durk’s attorney, Drew Findling, said the added time is necessary due to the scope of the case. “It’s a complex case,” Findling said in court. “These are the stepping stones towards a trial.”

According to reporting shared during a recent hearing, the new date may hinge on requests from co-defendants seeking separate trials. If those requests are approved, Durk could potentially move forward sooner.

Prosecutors allege that Durk played a role in a 2022 shooting near a Los Angeles gas station that targeted rapper Quando Rondo. Rondo survived, but his cousin Lul Pab later died. Authorities say the incident was retaliation following the 2020 killing of King Von.

The court has also ruled that some of Durk’s lyrics and music videos may be introduced as evidence.
