Egypt head coach has taken a swipe at Argentina following Spain’s 1-0 victory over the defending champions in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, claiming that “football won” with La Roja’s triumph.
Spain secured their second World Cup title after substitute Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in extra time to hand the European champions victory over Argentina on Sunday.
Reacting after the final, the Egyptian tactician alleged that Spain had to overcome questionable officiating before lifting the trophy.
“If you notice, they tried their best to rob Spain, but it didn’t just work.
“They cancelled Nico Williams’ goal for a foul they wouldn’t have cancelled if it was Argentina,” the coach said.
He added that Spain deserved to emerge champions because of their overall display throughout the tournament.
“I am very happy Spain won because they were the better team and they won over corruption. Football won today,” he stated.
