A 26-year-old woman, Ajetomobi Olanike was on Friday charged before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged fraud.

The defendant, whose address was not stated, is facing trial on a two-count charge of fraud and breach of peace.

She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp Elijah Adejare, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on May 16, at the Okeiyinmi area, of Ado-Ekiti.

Elijah alleged that the defendant fraudulently converted the sum of five million naira belonging to one Mr Obi Chinozo.

According to him,the defendant also conducted herself in manner likely to cause breach of peace by constituting nuisance in a public place.

The offence contravenes the provisions of sections 181(1)(d) and 302 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021..

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Kehinde Awosika, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She also ordered that one of the sureties must be a relative with landed property.

She adjourned the case until July 23, for hearing. (NAN)(www.nan.ng.com)
