Magaji Ahmadu, a representative of the Village Head of Sayaya in Katsina Town, has attributed the prolonged insecurity affecting the community to the killing of the father of a notorious bandit kingpin, saying the incident triggered the conflict that has continued to plague the area.
Speaking during an interview on News Central TV, on 11th July, 2026, Ahmadu explained that residents have continued to live under fear as violence linked to the bandit leader escalated after the death of his father.
He stressed that the circumstances surrounding the killing remain unclear, with different accounts circulating among residents.
According to him, “One of the bandits kingpin’s father was killed and since then, we had this conflict. We dont know who killed him, although some say it’s security agents.” He noted that the uncertainty over who was responsible has fueled tension and retaliation, leaving the community caught in a cycle of violence.
