French striker Kylian Mbappe is now the all time leading goal scorer in the history of the FIFA World Cup after eclipsing Lionel Messi’s earlier record to top the list with 22 goals followed by Lionel Messi who has 21 goals with former record holder Miroslav Klose of Germany who scored 16 goals in 3rd place.
Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo, who is seeking to become the second player to reach the 1000 goal mark is ranked 4th after scoring 15 goals with England’s Harry Kane and Germany’s Gerd Muller tied in 5th position with 14 goals apiece.
Mbappe achieved the feat in 3 world cup appearances while Messi who is second did so in 6 world cup appearances same as Cristiano Ronaldo.
Mbappe could stretch the lead if France qualifies for the next world cup in 2030 and if the 25 year old Real Madrid player is picked for the tournament.
