An Oyo-based advert practitioner, Peter Adeyemi, has called out the state’s governor, Seyi Makinde, over alleged vandalisation of his billboard for refusing to display the banner of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM.
Adeyemi, in a post shared on his X handle on Monday, recounted how officials of the Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OYSSAA) alleged destroyed the billboard overnight for turning down the APM’s banner display offer.
He claimed that the act was carried out by one Olabode Ajetunmobi, a consultant to the agency.
‘This is an evil and highly unfair act. Not everybody will bring politics into their business.
‘We are currently running a one-year advertisement for a solar company on our billboard.
‘In the middle of the night, officials of the Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OYSSAA) came and cut down our board just because we refused to display an APM banner on it.
‘This action was carried out by Mr. Olabode Ajetunmobi, a consultant to the agency.’ Adeyemi wrote.
The event promoter and On-Air Personality called on Makinde’s intervention over the incident while stressing that not every outdoor billboard practitioners are affiliated with the APM
‘Outdoor practitioners have every right to display banners of any political party on their billboards.
‘This is purely a business decision. Not everyone is affiliated with APM, and many practitioners just want to run their businesses without being dragged into politics.
‘I bring this to Your Excellency’s attention because I believe you may not be aware of these actions.
‘Kindly look into the matter urgently before it escalates further and creates the impression that your administration is using state agencies to intimidate citizens.
‘This would risk damaging the good reputation you have built over the past seven years. We trust in your sense of fairness and justice.; He said.
