The House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee investigating the activities of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) has given the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, 48-hour ultimatum to produce the self-acclaimed Director-General of the disputed agency, Adeniyi Adeyemi.
The committee, chaired by Yusuf Gagdi, ordered that Adeyemi be presented by noon on Wednesday, stressing the seriousness of the allegations and the need for clarification.
Gagdi gave the directive during an investigative hearing at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja on Monday.
The ad hoc committee intensified their probe into the activities of the controversial council.
According to reports, the probe centers on claims that the PFIPC, allegedly not legally established, secured office space within the Federal Secretariat and received a N1.32 billion allocation in the 2026 Appropriation Act.
Representing the police at the hearing, Bashir Abdullahi confirmed that investigations were ongoing and disclosed that an eight-count charge had already been filed against Adeyemi at the Federal High Court.
According to the police, petitions, including one from the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, accused Adeyemi of falsely presenting himself as Director-General of both the PFIPC and the Presidential Economic Advisory Council.
The lawmakers also examined documents allegedly linked to the case and raised concerns over possible forgery.
When asked to verify signatures on some documents, the police representative stated that they did not match authentic records.
The committee expressed alarm that the alleged fraud could involve forged State House documents and even a purported Act of the National Assembly used to legitimize the agency.
Gagdi emphasized that Adeyemi’s appearance is critical to the investigation, noting that the case involves the integrity of key institutions and public trust.
The police, however, cautioned against disclosing sensitive details that could affect ongoing investigations and court proceedings.
NPO Reported that Adeyemi was earlier this month arrested by the police hours after the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja issued a bench warrant against him.
