According to a video posted on MS Now on Monday, July 20, 2026, retired four-star General Barry McCaffrey said the United States lost 60,000 killed and wounded during the war on terror, meaning current casualties will not force Washington out of the conflict with Iran.
McCaffrey made the comment while addressing how far the U.S. is willing to continue fighting.
He said the current toll, a couple hundred wounded and 17 service members killed over almost five months, is far below the threshold that would break American resolve.
