Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno has inaugurated and handed over a newly constructed Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) North-East Zonal Office and Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre in Maiduguri.
The multi-million-naira facility, located along Maiduguri-Dikwa Road, was constructed by the Borno Government to support JAMB’s operations across the North-East.
The project comprises a modern administrative complex and a dual CBT centre with capacity to accommodate 500 candidates simultaneously.
Speaking at the inauguration on Wednesday in Maiduguri, Zulum said the project underscored his administration’s commitment to educational development and improved service delivery.
He said the facility would serve as a strategic hub for candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions, while enhancing examination administration and registration processes.
Zulum also directed the state Ministry of Education to name the facility after JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, in recognition of his contributions to educational development.
Oloyede, who received the facility on behalf of JAMB, commended the governor for what he described as an unprecedented intervention in the education sector.
He said it was the first time a state government had independently constructed and donated a JAMB zonal office and CBT centre to the board.
According to him, the centre can accommodate 500 candidates per examination session and process more than 2,000 candidates daily.
Oloyede added that the facility’s integrated registration units would significantly reduce the time required for candidate registration and documentation in Borno and neighbouring states.
He described the project as a testament to Zulum’s commitment to educational advancement, youth empowerment and human capital development.
The registrar said the facility would improve access to examination and administrative services while expanding educational opportunities for young people across the North-East. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
