Retired Nigerian Army Colonel Kolawole Kayode Shaw has been awarded an honorary Doctorate in Business Administration by the EuroKnowledge Institute in London, United Kingdom, in recognition of his distinguished military career and contributions to business and national development.
The honorary degree was presented during a ceremony held in Westminster, London, which brought together academics, business leaders, entrepreneurs and public figures from different parts of the world.
According to the institute, the award recognises individuals whose leadership, innovation, public service and professional achievements have made a lasting impact on society.
Shaw received the honour for his years of service in the Nigerian Army and his achievements in the private sector as the Managing Director of Kolie Mobs Ventures Limited. The institute noted that his successful transition from military leadership to business and community development made him a deserving recipient of the award.
Also honoured at the event was John Momoh, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Channels Television, who received an honorary doctorate in recognition of his contributions to journalism, broadcasting and media development.
Colonel Shaw retired from the Nigerian Army in 2011 after a distinguished career. During his service, he held several strategic positions, including Director of the Army Post Service Housing Directorate. He also became the pioneer Managing Director of the Nigerian Army Post Service Housing Development Company, where he played a key role in housing development initiatives for military personnel.
Following his retirement, Shaw remained active in the real estate sector. Through his company, he has been involved in several property development projects, including the construction of the Mamman Vatsa Writers’ Village in Abuja, a landmark project owned by the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA).
The EuroKnowledge Institute described Shaw as one of the few retired military officers recognised for successfully combining military discipline with business leadership and humanitarian service. It said his achievements demonstrate how leadership skills acquired in public service can continue to benefit society long after retirement.
The ceremony celebrated individuals from different sectors whose work has contributed to national and international development, highlighting excellence in leadership, education, business and public service.
