The pupils and teachers who were kidnapped in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have now regained their freedom.
The development was announced on Friday by the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post on X.
According to Onanuga, all the abducted pupils and teachers were successfully rescued by security agencies.
“Finally, all the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Oriire, Oyo have been rescued by our security agencies,” he wrote.
In a video shared on his X account, Mrs. Rachel Alamu, the principal of Community High School in Ogbomoso was seen expressing appreciation to President Tinubu and the security agencies for securing their release.
“President sir, our father, we are grateful. We understand your commitment to our safety and we appreciate all you did for us.
“And every security operative, they tried so much and that is why we are still alive by now. God bless you.”
The rescue followed security operations coordinated by federal authorities, according to information released on Friday.
