APC Members Ask Sharafadeen Alli to Drop Governorship Ambition, Be Crowned as Oba

A group of the All Progressives Congress (APC) members in Oyo State has demanded the withdrawal of the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 Oyo Gubernatorial Election, Sen. Sharafadeen Alli.

The disgruntled members of the party made their demand known during a protest against the candidacy of the APC chieftain in the state.

As seen in a video shared on X on Thursday, the protesters urged the governorship candidate to go back home and be crowned as Oba.

One of the protest leaders addressing the APC members with a megaphone alleged that Sharafadeen’s family and kinsmen are against his candidacy as they want him to return home and take over his new chieftaincy title as the Ekaarun Balogun.

“Baba Sharafa, go and take your family’s crown. Your family said they don’t need you as Oyo governor.

“Your kinsmen said you should leave the governorship race and take over the throne.” The protest leader said as he declared the APC members’ preference for the candidacy of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu.

“It’s Adelabu that we want as governor.” He said.

Recall that Sharafadeen was in May coronated as crowned high chief alongside two others by the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

He was however coronated in absentia with the governorship aspirant accusing Makinde insisting on holding the coronation despite notifying the organisers of unavailability for the event.

Alli claimed he was targeted with plot to sabotage his governorship ambition, arguing that the coronation should have been shifted since all the three beneficiaries gave reasons why they couldn’t attend the ceremony.
