Former Ogun State Governor, Olusegun Osoba, has charged the Federal and State Governments to embrace digital security strategies in addressing Nigeria’s insecurity challenge.
Osoba gave the charge during his closing remarks at Arise TV’s Townhall Dialogue on State Policing held in Abuja on Thursday.
In his address, the ex-Ogun governor called for an end to what he labelled infantry fighting, stressing that modern warfare has evolved beyond the analogue era of fighting soldier to soldier.
He noted that modern warfare is now shapened with the deployment of digital tools like drones and surveillance cameras.
“The era of infantry fighting, soldier to soldier, has gone. The war has gone digital with drones and giant cameras.” Osoba said.
While recounting his time at Enugu state where he witnessed the operation of surveillance cameras which covered the entire state, the ex-Ogun governor charged other state governments to emulate the innovation and also be proactive.
“Our state government should also be proactive with digital innovation with giant cameras surveilling the state.” He said.
