The Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has adjourned the trial of social media influencer and relationship therapist, Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, popularly known as Blessing CEO, until July 20, 2026.
Justice D.I. Dipeolu adjourned the case on Wednesday following the defendant’s failure to appear in court due to illness.
Blessing CEO is being prosecuted by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a two-count charge bordering on alleged obtaining by false pretence and theft involving N36 million.
At the commencement of proceedings, defence counsel, P.I. Nwafuru, informed the court that officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service had notified him that his client was ill and could not attend the hearing.
He appealed for an adjournment and assured the court that a medical report would be presented at the next sitting.
Following the application, Justice Dipeolu adjourned the matter until Monday, July 20, 2026, for the continuation of trial.
According to one of the charges, Blessing CEO allegedly obtained N36 million from Mrs. Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye between July 14 and July 17, 2024, under the false pretence of leasing a six-bedroom detached duplex located at No. 1B, Tunbosun Osobu Street, off Kuboye Road, Lekki, Lagos State.
The EFCC alleged that the defendant knew the representation to be false, an offence said to be contrary to Section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.
