A 19-year-old US Army soldier, identified only as Gonzales from Carrollton, Texas, has died after the military base he was serving in was attacked by ballistic missiles and drones allegedly launched by Iran in Jordan.
According to information provided by US officials, Gonzales was among the soldiers who had been sent to the Middle East to participate in operations against the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, which has continued to pose a threat in parts of Iraq and Syria.
It is reported that at the time of the attack, the soldier was performing a security role at the base against airstrikes targeting military infrastructure and areas occupied by US troops. Despite the efforts of security forces to counter the attacks, Gonzales lost his life as a result of the attack.
