The US Navy’s Ohio-class and Virginia-class submarines are considered among the most dangerous in the world. Equipped with advanced stealth technology and long-range missile systems, they play a major role in maintaining America’s global military dominance.

Russia remains a strong competitor

Russia is one of the world’s leading submarine powers, operating around 66 active submarines. Its fleet includes several modern nuclear-powered attack submarines designed for stealth operations and precision strikes.

China expands its underwater fleet

China has built one of the world’s largest submarine forces, with more than 60 submarines in service. Its fleet includes both nuclear-powered and diesel-electric submarines, reflecting its growing naval ambitions.

Where does India rank?

According to international naval assessments, India ranks around seventh or eighth globally in terms of overall submarine strength. The Indian Navy currently operates about 18 active submarines. INS Arihant, India’s first indigenous nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, is capable of launching nuclear missiles from underwater.
