A Lagos-based political forum, the Progressives Group, has urged Nigerians to re-elect President Bola Tinubu in 2027 to consolidate on what it calls the gains of his administration.
The group also congratulated candidates who emerged victorious in the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries for national and state legislative positions.
The group’s National Chairman, Mr Ajiyon-Shakirudeen Wusu made the call in a statement issued on Thursday in Lagos.
The statement was jointly signed by Wusu and the group’s National Secretary, Mr Shola Omolola and the Publicity Secretary, Mr Samson Adewale.
Wusu said the Tinubu administration had spent its first term laying the foundation for sustainable national growth through reforms and institutional restructuring.
“The first term of President Tinubu has been dedicated to laying solid foundations and putting the right structures in place.
“Key reforms in the economy, infrastructure, and institutional governance are already setting the stage for long-term growth.
“His second term will be more impactful as we move past the initial teething stages and the dividends of these reforms become visible to all Nigerians,” he said.
The chairman also called on Nigerians to support efforts aimed at improving security across the country.
According to him, security should not be left to government alone but must become a collective responsibility of all citizens.
Wusu urged APC leaders and members to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He encouraged party structures to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“To ensure a landslide victory for PBAT (President Bola Ahmed Tinubu) and the APC in 2027, we charge the party at all levels to immediately mobilise all ward chairmen and party structures.
“They should go to the grassroots and register new voters in the ongoing INEC CVR exercise.
“The real election is won at the polling unit through massive voter registration and turnout,” he said.
He also called for cooperation among the three arms of government in advancing national development.
The chairman urged the National Assembly and the Judiciary to continue to support democratic governance and institutional stability.
“We charge the Senate under the leadership of Senate President Godswill Akpabio to maintain a robust and productive working relationship with the President.
“Unity among arms of government is critical to delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda to Nigerians. We urge the judiciary too to be the last hope of the common man,” he said.
Congratulating APC candidates elected during the just-concluded primaries, Wusu appealed to aspirants who were unsuccessful in the primaries to remain committed to the APC.
He congratulated Lagos Deputy Governor and 2027 APC gubernatorial candidate Dr Obafemi Hamzat and his running mate, Mrs Damilola Sonayon-James on their emergence.
Applauding the choice of Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro as the Director-General of the Hamzat/ Sonayon-James Governorship Campaign, Wusu called for sustained support for the party to ensure continuity in governance and development programmes.
“Let us communicate our vision clearly and assure Lagos residents and indeed Nigerians of a better future.
“This can be achieved through continuous support for our presidential and governorship candidates. Together, we will build a stronger Nigeria and a greater Lagos,” he said. (NAN)
