President Bola Tinubu has commended the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies following the elimination of notorious bandit kingpin, Ibrahim Bastuji, and the rescue of Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar, widow of late retired Maj.-Gen. Rabe Abubakar.
The President described the operation in Kogi State as a major blow to criminal networks responsible for terrorising communities in the state and neighbouring areas.
This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by the Presidential Spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga.
Tinubu said Bastuji’s activities, which included violence, kidnappings and attacks on civilians, had caused severe hardship for residents.
He said the bandit leader’s neutralisation would help restore confidence and provide relief to communities affected by criminal activities.
“I congratulate our gallant troops on this decisive milestone. Nigeria will not surrender any part of its territory to criminals.
“Those who choose the path of violence against innocent citizens will find no hiding place. This success reflects the renewed determination of our security forces to secure every inch of our land,” Tinubu said.
The President also commended security operatives involved in the rescue of Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar, describing the operation as evidence of the courage, professionalism and commitment of Nigeria’s security personnel.
“The safe return of Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar is a source of relief to her family and all Nigerians.
“I commend the intelligence coordination and bravery of the officers and men who executed the rescue operation. We owe a debt of gratitude to our troops who risk their lives daily to keep us safe,” he added.
Tinubu assured Nigerians that his administration would continue to provide the Armed Forces and security agencies with the necessary resources, training and support to tackle banditry, kidnapping and other forms of violent crime.
He further urged citizens to support security agencies by providing credible and timely information to aid efforts aimed at protecting lives and property across the country.
