The Oyo State Government has demolished a market located along the Mobil axis of Ring Road in Ibadan, the state capital.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts by authorities to clamp down on structures and spaces reportedly used as hideouts by criminal elements.

Officials said the action followed security intelligence indicating that parts of the market had become a base for illegal activities.

This comes seven days after the government pulled down a three-bedroom bungalow in Lako, a community along the Aiyegun-Anaye road in Ibadan.

The demolition followed allegations that the property was being used as a hideout by suspected kidnappers who abducted the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her children.

The state government has therefore urged landlords, housing agents, and residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities within their communities to security agencies.

The government reiterated its commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance stance against criminality and insecurity across the state.
