The Oyo State Police Command has recovered several campaign materials of the Accord Party and ten vehicles from the armed robbery syndicate arrested at Gbeku Area in Olodo, Ibadan.
NPO Reported that the command had last week apprehended five members of the syndicate at the resident of one of the suspects identified as Surajudeen Babatunde Adio, popularly known as Surii Ilupeju.
While the police had initially recovered firearms and ammunition from the suspects, further investigation led to the discovery of campaign materials allegedly belonging to the Accord Party and 10 vehicles.
This was made known in a statement issued on Monday by the Oyo Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka.
According to Ayanlade, the recovered items were linked to the ongoing investigation on the syndicate’s operation.
The Accord Party’s campaign materials recovered by the police largely comprised of branded t-shirts, face caps, and hats.
Meanwhile, the vehicles recovered in connection to the investigation, as listed by Ayanlade, include one Mazda bus with registration number FFE 08 XB; one Hummer bus, Registration Number MUS 246 CK; one BAW bus, Registration Number KTU 688 YG; one Toyota bus; two Toyota buses with Registration Number BDG 117 YK and BRS 842 TW.
Others include two Toyota Sienna with registration number LSD 68 CJ and BDG 986 SA; one Ford Sharon, Registration Number FKJ 39 EW; one Toyota Previa; and one Nissan Cabstar.
Also recovered by the police are one Suzuki Inazuma Power Bike, one Blue Honda Motorcycle (Scrap), one Red Honda Motorcycle (Scrap), and one Bajaj Boxer Motorcycle (Scrap).
The Oyo Police Command noted that efforts are ongoing to establish the ownership, relevance and possible connection of the recovered items to reported criminal activities within and outside the State.
It also disclosed ongoing efforts to identify and apprehend other persons who may be linked to the syndicate.
Meanwhile, the relationship between the armed robbery syndicate and the Accord Party largely remains unconfirmed as no official statement has been issued by the party in respect of its campaign materials found with the suspects.
