The Senate has sworn-in the four Senators newly elected at last week’s bye-election held by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

NPO Reported that INEC had on Saturday conducted the bye-election for the vacant senatorial offices in Enugu, Nasarawa North, Ondo South, and Rivers South-East.

The winners of the election, as announced by INEC include Ikeje Asogwa (APC, Enugu North), Dannladi Halilu Envulu-Anza (APC Nasarawa North), Dayo Faduyile (APC, Ondo South), and Nwoku Johnson (Rivers South-East).

With INEC’s presentation of the Certificate of Return to the new lawmakers, the Senate at its plenary session on Wednesday swore-in the lawmakers.

The swearing-in ceremony was reportedly conducted by the Senate President Godswill Akpabio who congratulated the lawmakers for their success at the poll.

Recall that the results of the Saturday bye-elections as declared by INEC saw the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Ikeje Asogwa, emerge winner of the Enugu North Senatorial District by-election, replacing late Senator Okey Ezea who died on November 18, 2025, at the age of 62.

APC also emerged victorious at the Nasarawa North Senatorial bye-election as Danladi Halilu Envulu-Anza was declared winner of the poll.

Similarly, the ruling party’s candidate for the Ondo South Senatorial bye-election, Dayo Faduyile, was declared winner of the election.

APC however lost the Rivers South-East Senatorial bye-election as the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Nwoku Johnson, was declared winner, replacing the late Senator Barry Barinada Mpigi who died in February 2026.
