Pastor Adeboye never campaigned for any govt, says RCCG

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the church said Pastor Adeboye has never endorsed any political party or candidate but has always encouraged members to participate in the democratic process by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and voting according to their convictions.

RCCG also addressed claims that the cleric called off a planned protest, explaining that he merely relayed a directive from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) regarding changes to a scheduled prayer programme and rally.

“Pastor E.A. Adeboye only communicated the instruction of the Pentecostal Fellowship in Nigeria to members of the RCCG on the updated plan to have the grand finale of the Three Day Prayer Program in a centralized venue and hold a rally around the venue. This was communicated by PFN to all churches under PFN in Nigeria,” it said.

The church further rejected suggestions that Pastor Adeboye deliberately avoids commenting on national matters, noting that he has repeatedly spoken on issues affecting the country, including insecurity, corruption, economic hardship, elections and governance.

According to the statement, the cleric has often addressed such concerns through moral guidance, prayer and counsel rather than partisan political engagement.

“Let it be clearly stated: Pastor Adeboye and The RCCG will not be defined by falsehood, and neither will the Church remain silent while inaccurate narratives are repeatedly circulated as facts,” the statement said.

The church urged members of the public, media organisations, bloggers and commentators to verify information relating to Pastor Adeboye and RCCG through official communication channels before publishing or sharing such claims.

“If a claim is not communicated, verified, or endorsed through RCCG’s official communication channels, it should not be regarded as an official position of the Church,” it stated.

RCCG reiterated its commitment to correcting what it described as misleading narratives and ensuring that the public receives accurate information about the church and its leadership.
