Ogidi: Court Orders Remand of Dismissed Killer Cop, Four Others

The Delta State High Court sitting in Asaba has ordered the remand of dismissed Assistant Superintendent of Police, Usman Nuhu, and four other dismissed police officers over the extrajudicial killing of 28-year-old Oghenemene Ogidi in Effurun, Delta State.

Usman was arraigned alongside his colleagues following their dismissal over the killing of Ogidi on the 26th of April 2026.

NPO Reported that the dismissed officer had in a disturbing video posted on social media shoot the 28-year-old dead in public over alleged possession of firearms.

The late Ogidi whose hands were tied to his back was gunned by Usman despite his plea and pledge to reveal who sent the firearms concealed in package to him.

The incident had sparked public outrage which led to the dismissal and prosecution of the officers.

At the hearing of the case with suit number DTHC/ASB/CR/M/66/2026, the presiding judge, Justice Marshall Onome Umukoro, ordered the remand of the dismissed officers at the Ogwashi-Uku Correctional Centre.

They are to be remanded for 15 working days pending legal advice from the Delta State Attorney-General.

The court also directed that all subsequent proceedings involving the accused persons be conducted virtually.
