The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Osun, Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji, has dismissed allegations linking vehicles branded with his campaign materials to criminal activities in the state.

Oyebamiji described the activities as the handiwork of desperate political opponents.

This was contained in a statement issued on Saturday in Osogbo by his Special Adviser, Yusuf Babalola.

According to the statement, Oyebamiji spoke after observing Jumat prayers with Muslim faithful at the Mallam Tope Central Mosque in Osogbo.

He alleged that opposition elements were impersonating his campaign by branding vehicles in APC colours to perpetrate criminal acts and tarnish his image.

Oyebamiji said the reports were aimed at discrediting him and undermining his growing support across the state.

He maintained that neither he nor his campaign organisation had any link to criminal activities, stressing his longstanding commitment to integrity and the rule of law.

“I have always lived as a law-abiding citizen and will never depart from that path.

“Our campaign is founded on peace, decency and issue-based engagement. We will continue to pursue our democratic aspirations without intimidation or resorting to unlawful acts,” he said.

He warned those allegedly using branded vehicles to cause mayhem to desist, urging security agencies and residents to remain vigilant.

“I urge security agencies and the good people of Osun not to fall for the antics of those whose only strategy is deception and fear. Our campaign will not be distracted by attempts to malign our reputation,” he added.

Oyebamiji urged the residents to disregard any attempt to link his campaign to criminality, insisting that his ambition is driven by a desire to provide purposeful leadership and responsible governance.

He also appealed for continued prayers and support, assuring the people of his commitment to fostering unity, restoring purposeful leadership and delivering good governance.

“With the support and prayers of our people, and by the grace of God, we will build an Osun where peace, security, prosperity and justice prevail for all,” he said.
