Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norway’s Crown Princess, Mette-Marit, has been sentenced to four years in prison after being convicted on two counts of rape by the Oslo District Court.
The 29-year-old, who has been at the centre of a high-profile criminal case in Norway, was found guilty of raping two women but was acquitted of two other rape charges.
He was also convicted on several additional offences, including abuse and reckless conduct involving former partners and other women.
Høiby, who participated in Monday’s proceedings via video link, had denied all four rape allegations brought against him.

A three-member judicial panel delivered the verdict, concluding that the prosecution had proved two of the rape charges beyond reasonable doubt.
One of the convictions related to an incident on the Crown Prince’s Skaugum estate in 2018, while the second involved a woman in Oslo in 2024.
The court also found him guilty of abusing his former girlfriend, Norwegian influencer Nora Haukland.
However, judges dismissed two other rape charges linked to separate incidents involving women he met in Oslo in 2024 and in Norway’s Lofoten region in 2023.
The case involved allegations from six women, although only one of the complainants was present in court when the judgment was delivered.
According to prosecutors, one of the victims was either asleep or incapacitated when the assault occurred after a party in Oslo in March 2024.
Evidence presented during the trial included videos recorded by Høiby at the time of the incident.
Giving evidence during the proceedings, the woman told the court she had been asleep and would not have consented to the act.
The judges accepted that she was incapable of resisting what happened.
All four rape allegations centred on claims that the women were asleep or otherwise unable to give consent at the time of the incidents.
Prosecutors had sought a prison term of seven years and seven months, while defence lawyers argued for a significantly reduced sentence of 18 months.
Following the verdict, Høiby’s lawyer, Petar Sekulic, renewed a request for his client’s release pending further proceedings.
The court also ordered Høiby to pay 640,000 Norwegian kroner in compensation to four of the women involved in the case, including Haukland.
Høiby is not a member of Norway’s royal family, although he was raised within the royal household after his mother married Crown Prince Haakon when he was four years old.
The verdict comes as Crown Princess Mette-Marit battles a serious form of pulmonary fibrosis and has reportedly been placed on a lung transplant waiting list.
Defence lawyers had previously cited her deteriorating health in repeated applications seeking Høiby’s release from custody.
