A delegation from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), led by the Chief of Administration (Army), Major General IM Abdullahi, on Sunday visited Katsina State to condole with the family of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar and the state government over his death.
The delegation conveyed the condolences of the Chief of Defence Staff, General OO Oluyede, and the Armed Forces of Nigeria, describing the late senior officer as a patriotic soldier whose service to the nation would not be forgotten.
At the family residence in Katsina, Major General Abdullahi said the deceased served the Nigerian Army and the country with honour and distinction for more than three decades, making significant contributions to national security and the development of the military.
He assured the family that security agencies would continue efforts to ensure that those responsible for the retired general’s death are brought to justice and pledged the military’s support during their period of grief.
As part of the visit, the delegation presented a national flag to the family in recognition of the late officer’s dedication and sacrifices to Nigeria.
Responding on behalf of the family, Alhaji Dikko Mu’azu Ruma, the Gado da Masun Katsina, expressed gratitude to the Chief of Defence Staff and the Armed Forces for their support and solidarity.
He described the visit as a source of comfort to the family and prayed for the peaceful repose of the late general’s soul.
The DHQ delegation also visited the Katsina State Government House, where they were received by Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe on behalf of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
During the visit, Major General Abdullahi conveyed the condolences of the Armed Forces to the government and people of Katsina State, describing the late General Rabe as one of the state’s distinguished sons.
In his remarks, the deputy governor said the retired military officer’s death was a painful loss to both Katsina State and Nigeria, adding that his commitment to national service and security would continue to inspire generations of Nigerians.
