The Nigerian Air Force has intensified its air campaign against terrorists and bandits in the North-West, carrying out precision strikes on identified strongholds and neutralising terrorists during recent operations.
The Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
According to him, the operations were conducted on June 18 and 19 under the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 1.
Ejodame said the missions included intelligence, surveillance and armed reconnaissance operations aimed at supporting ongoing joint military efforts in the region.
He noted that NAF aircraft struck a confirmed terrorist enclave within the Joint Operations Area following credible intelligence, disrupting criminal activities and reducing the operational capability of the terrorists.
The air force spokesman further stated that aircraft deployed around Kidandan successfully neutralised terrorists after identifying their movement in the area.
He added that reconnaissance missions over Fatika and Sabuwa confirmed the absence of additional terrorist activity, while surveillance operations remained ongoing.
Quoting the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the statement said, “Decisive air power delivers its greatest effect when seamlessly integrated with surface operations.”
Ejodame said the NAF would continue to deploy intelligence-driven air power in coordination with ground forces to combat insecurity and protect lives and property across the North-West.
