FORMER Minister of Power Prof. Bart Nnaji says that turning 70 has strengthened rather than diminished his commitment to solving Nigeria’s electricity challenges.
Reflecting on his birthday, Prof. Nnaji, a former minister of power, said that he once believed that he would not live beyond the age of 60, but now sees 70 merely as another milestone.
“I did not think that I would live past 60… Now, 70 is just a number,” he said.
He said that the work of expanding reliable electricity in Nigeria remained unfinished.
“I have a company that is just getting to work the way it is supposed to work,” he said.
Nnaji assured that he intends to continue working as long as his health permits and that the country’s economic development depends on adequate electricity.
Beyond power, he disclosed that there are plans to establish an Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in Umuede as well as a technology university, subject to approval by the National Universities Commission.
Asked how he hoped history would remember him, Nnaji said that he would like to be recognised for improving electricity supply and advancing technology in Nigeria.
