As School Management Suspends Activities

A final-year student of the Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba (Formerly Kogi State University) has reportedly been stabbed to death in a suspected cult clash during the Final Year Brethren celebration on campus.
The incident which occurred in the early hours of Thursday on the school field had caused panic among the students and the school community.
Video circulating on social media showed the body of the yet-to-be identified student being dragged by one of his colleagues.
He was reportedly stabbed multiple times by an unidentified assailant.
Some of the students were seen charging towards a car suspected to be conveying the assailant.
The actual cause of the incident however remains unclear.
Meanwhile, the school management in a statement issued by its Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. S.A Adegoke, ordered the ban of all forms of celebration on campus.
The management cited serious security concerns as reason behind the ban.
No reference was however to the incident and the death of the student.
Rather the Prince Abubakar Audu University management declared all activities ranging from FYB, Cultural Association Celebration, to Signing Out Celebration banned.
The statement read; “The Vice Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba has directed me to inform all students of Management Decision, that all forms of celebration on campus has been banned with immediate effect until further notice.
“The decision has become expedient due to serious security concerns and the need to maintain peace, order and safety within the University Environment.
“Consequently, activities such as Final Year Brethren Celebration (FYB), Cultural Association Celebration, Signing out Celebration, Departmental Association Celebration and Faculty Association Celebration, Awareness or any related Festive events are no longer permitted during this period.
“Students are strongly advised to strictly comply with this directive as the Management and Security Personnel will enforce full compliance. Any violation of this directive will attract appropriate disciplinary action.
“We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and co- operation as we work to ensure a safe Campus Environment for all.”
