The Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted four of the five persons standing trial over the June 5, 2022 attack on Saint Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State.
Forty-three worshippers were killed in the attack, which was one of the major terrorist attacks in the South West of Nigeria
The Department of State Services (DSS) had since arraigned five defendants over their alleged involvement in the incident.
The court convicted Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza, Al Qasim Idris, Jamiu Abdulmalik and Abdulhaleem Idris, while Momoh Otuho Abubakar was discharged and acquitted.
In the nine-count terrorism charge, the DSS accused the defendants of belonging to foreign terrorist groups and being responsible for the attack on the church.
Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, found the four defendants guilty.
