The decision was announced in a statement published on the university’s official news portal on Friday and signed by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tajudeen Opoola, through the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration).
The affected students, Alao Iyanuoluwa Odunayo and Olawale Abiodun Samuel, were accused of conspiring to cyberbully Adio by allegedly sharing information relating to his private life online.
According to the statement, the duo was involved in cyberbullying Adio “by posting his private affairs online for Adio’s inability to meet their financial demands.”
The university management condemned the alleged actions, describing them as conduct capable of damaging the institution’s reputation.
While noting that investigations into the matter are still ongoing, the management directed the students to proceed on immediate suspension.
The statement stressed that the university remains committed to eliminating actions and behaviours that could bring the institution into disrepute.
The development comes days after Adio himself was suspended alongside the Deputy Director of Students Affairs over allegations related to extortion.
The suspended student leader was accused of indirect involvement in the collection of ₦1,000 from newly admitted students for practical sessions. University authorities said about ₦700,000 linked to the exercise was traced to his personal bank account.
Following his suspension, an explicit video allegedly involving Adio surfaced online and circulated widely across social media platforms, attracting significant public attention and prompting intervention from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
