In order to enhance speedy, efficient and fair determination of Pre-election matters, and in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Electoral Act 2026 and other relevant applicable laws, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Hon Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, OFR, KSS, FCIArb UK has issued the Federal High Court (pre-election) Practice Directions, 2026.

With this development, the Federal High Court of Nigeria is notifying members of the Bar, Political Parties, litigants and the general public to be abreast of the new practice and adjust accordingly so as to meet the time frame allowed to conclude all pre- election matters.

It is should also be noted that this new Practice Directions repeals the 2022 version.

ISSUANCE OF THE FEDERAL HIGH COURT (PRE-ELECTION) PRACTICE DIRECTIONS, 2026.

The Federal High Court of Nigeria hereby notifies members of the Bar, political parties, litigants and the general public that the Honourable, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Hon. Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, OFR, has issued the Federal High Court (Pre-Election) Practice Directions, 2026.

The Practice Directions is intended to enhance the speedy, efficient, and fair determination of pre-election matters in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), the Electoral Act, 2026, and other applicable laws.

It is instructive that the current Practice Directions has repealed the 2022 version.

A copy of the Federal High Court (Pre-Election) Practice Directions, 2026 is attached to this Press Release for the guidance of all stakeholders.
