The Governor of Ekiti State and the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abiodun Oyebanji, has responded to allegations of harassment raised by opposition candidates in the ongoing gubernatorial election
Speaking to journalists after casting his vote at at Polling Unit 003 in Oke-Lele, Ikogosi, Ekiti West Local Government Area, the governor said;
“He who alleges must prove.”
NPO reports that this comes after allegations that the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dare Bejide, had lamented about the presence of false policemen who harrassed his men at his polling unit.
He also noted that his driver was beaten badly till he began to bleed, while alleging that a sum of money was brought to be distributed which therefore caused an altercation.
Similarly, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oluwole Oluyede, also raised concerns over the heavy presence of security personnel, alleging that voters were being intimidated in his polling unit.
“Go down there and see the army of policemen harrassing people. They are using false vehicles. I taped them. I have evidence of that and I will show you when it’s appropriate.”
Oyebanji, however, maintained that the election remained largely peaceful and orderly, urging voters to exercise patience over technical glitches.
