Bandits burn NSCDC checkpoint, abduct resident in Kebbi community

Bandits have attacked Tsamiya community in Bagudo local government area of Kebbi state, setting ablaze a security checkpoint belonging to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and abducting a resident.

Bashir Usman, police spokesperson in Kebbi, disclosed the incident in a statement on Saturday. He said the attackers also set fire to a local brothel and the residence of one Sule Mai Goge during the raid.

According to the statement, Alhaji Yusuf Bazamfare was kidnapped by the assailants. Usman said the police command had deployed tactical personnel to Tsamiya following the attack. He added that an investigation into the incident had commenced.

The police spokesperson said efforts were ongoing to rescue the abducted victim and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

The command assured residents of Tsamiya and surrounding communities of its commitment to restoring normalcy and ensuring public safety.

Usman urged members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could aid ongoing operations.
