Yusuf Muhammadu Buhari, son of Nigeria’s late former President, Muhammadu Buhari, has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat in Katsina State.

PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Yusuf Buhari secured a landslide victory after polling 5,849 votes in the primary election. His closest rival, Hon. Auwal Lawal Daura, received 21 votes.

The outcome of the election has drawn attention across political circles in Katsina State, especially because of the wide margin between the two candidates.

Supporters of the APC in the constituency celebrated the result shortly after the votes were announced, with many describing Yusuf Buhari’s victory as a major political development ahead of the general election.

The Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency is considered one of the key political areas in Katsina State due to its connection to the Buhari family and the strong support base of the ruling APC in the region.

In other news, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has released the names of House of Representatives aspirants who were not cleared to contest in the party’s National Assembly primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.

PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that the list, released on Saturday, affected aspirants from Ondo, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Kogi and Rivers states.
