The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utsev, has called for peaceful, free and fair elections of All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in Benue.
Utsev made the call on Saturday while speaking with journalists at the APC State Secretariat in Makurdi during the party’s House of Representatives primary elections.
The minister said he was in the state to witness and participate in the APC primaries, adding that similar exercises were taking place across the country.
“I am here in Benue to witness and participate in our great party’s primaries, the All Progressives Congress primaries, which are also taking place across the country,” he said.
Utsev explained that he visited the party secretariat to observe the process and ensure that the exercise was carried out smoothly.
“I have seen that people are collecting materials, and I pray that there will be peace and an atmosphere that will allow us conduct free and fair primaries,” he stated.
He expressed optimism that the outcome of the primaries would produce candidates capable of representing the people effectively.
“At the end of the day, the people of Benue and Nigerians at large will be happy by electing those chosen to represent them,” he added.(NAN)
