Two prominent aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah and Sani M. Kabiru, have withdrawn from the party’s senatorial primary elections scheduled for May 18, 2026.
Na’Allah, a former senator who represented Kebbi South Senatorial District, announced his withdrawal in a letter addressed to the APC State Chairman in Birnin Kebbi.
In the letter, the former lawmaker said his decision followed what he described as “credible information” about the disposition of the party ahead of the exercise.
He alleged that directives from higher authorities had influenced the situation.
Na’Allah said the decision to withdraw was difficult, considering his long years of involvement in the formation and strengthening of the APC.
He noted that he had spent over 14 years building and supporting the party as a founding member at both the state and national levels.
The former senator said, despite his contributions to the party, the information available to him made it necessary for him to step aside from the contest.
He, however, expressed gratitude to his constituents and supporters for standing by him throughout his aspirations.
Na’Allah particularly thanked those who contributed financially towards the purchase of his nomination form, describing their gesture as a demonstration of trust and confidence.
He also reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and pledged continued commitment to the party’s unity and progress.
Similarly, Sani M. Kabiru, popularly known as Kabiru Sani Giant, withdrew from the APC senatorial primary for Kebbi Central Senatorial District.
Kabiru, in his letter to the party leadership, said his withdrawal was informed by “personal, political, and strategic factors.”
He appreciated party leaders, members of his campaign team, and supporters for their encouragement and support throughout his aspirations.
Kabiru said his decision to withdraw from the race did not mean he was leaving the APC.
He reaffirmed his continued loyalty to the ruling party and pledged to support its future political engagements and electoral successes.
The withdrawal of the two aspirants comes amid growing political realignments and internal calculations within the Kebbi State chapter of the APC ahead of the senatorial primaries. Their exit from the race is expected to reshape the contests in Kebbi South and Kebbi Central as the party prepares to elect its senatorial candidates.
